Grateful for Golden Hour
If there's one thing that can't get here fast enough, it's the scorching heat of summer. Guys, I'm a heat person. I love it. I need it. I need it to be 80ยบ F with low humidity and a nice breeze. That's my perfect temperature and unfortunately in Ohio, that happens maybe once or twice a year.
The rest of the days are filled with 90% humidity where your face melts off as soon as you get in the car, and you're like "Really, universe, really?!" Ideally, I'd love to live in somewhere like Arizona temperature-wise. That's if there was more to do there and I didn't feel like I was living in God's Waiting Room Phase 2. (Phase 1 being Florida.)
But, Jack and I are trying to stay positive about the whole weather situation, and did some nice "sunning" (I use this term loosely here) on the deck last night at golden hour. For those of you who aren't familiar, a lot of photographers refer to the hour block of time either before sunrise or before sunset. The light is diffused and gives off radiant oranges and yellows and golds, hence the name Golden Hour. This really is the ideal time to take photos. You don't have to fight with harsh direct sunlight, and you don't have to fight with white balance because it's overcast. I've noticed that some of my most favorite photos over the years have been taken during this time of day as well.
It's especially perfect in the summer time, because the heat and humidity of the day are fading, and you get to enjoy that perfect temperature and ambiance for about an hour. But, Jack and I aren't complaining.

Sigh. Need I remind you again that you need to come visit me in Cali??
I’m too lazy to take any pictures now. I only have the energy to take pictures in the summer. :(
