Hello, Monochrome
My client project was put on hold this weekend, so I had some time to finally implement a new layout here. I still have some tweaking to do, but all in all I’m pretty please with the result.
I’m actually really excited about it, mostly about the newly reorganized backend bits that you guys can’t see - I went through my to do list and finished everything that had been hanging over my head, so now I can start focusing on implementing new features, like the “Create” link above, which will remain unfinished until I get everything exactly how I want it.
I’m still on the fence about this color scheme though, so I may or may not add a tertiary color, I haven’t decided yet. I really like the combination of blue and magenta, so perhaps something along those lines.
Things have been going well offline for me recently as well, and it’s dropped several degrees with the early onset of fall - something that always makes me super excited. Autumn is the only part of my year when my soul isn’t quietly sobbing and wanting to evaporate, so I feel really good mentally and emotionally during this time of year. Shame it doesn’t last as long as I’d like it too, but I’ll take what I can get. I have some really great projects lined up this fall, which also contributes to me no longer feeling like crusty death.
Later this month I’ll be shooting the wedding of a good friend, and I’ll also be doing several senior portrait sessions, as well as several more freelance web design projects. After all of that is finished, I’m embarking on an adventure into creating themes for Theme Forest, which I’m really excited about because Vasili has offered to handle all of the disgusting Wordpress related fuckery, so I can focus solely on the design. Very exciting.
After all of these projects are finished, I’m looking forward to taking some time off for myself, something that never happens. Time to spend with my family, take photos, relax, and just hang out without any client projects to finish or shoots to process.

I love the colors you chose to do this layout in. You can pull off monochromatic very nicely. :D
I have to ask, did you draw all those pixel icons by yourself or are they from somewhere? Also, you have made me very curious about the “Create” link.

As you know I love the design although I do think it needs a complementary color to make things “pop” a bit more.
Congrats on all of the new projects you have starting! It’s always wonderful to be busy. I love this layout. It’s quite calming and nice. I’m a huge fan of letterpress so it’s definitely awe- worthy, like your other designs.
I swear I’ve seen this before… you had one up the layout before last that was like this, right? The blue/beige one maybe…
@TWD - This is an original design :) The masthead is similar to ones I’ve done before though, so maybe that’s why.
I actually really like the colors in this one. You can pull of simplicity & sleek design quite well! Props to you. :)
